A person who spiked treats with sedative and gave them to children at a summer program in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males aged between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight children and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was facing, which was involving a young boy.
The defendant was remanded in custody before a subsequent court date on late November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, detailed Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were attending a summer camp which he ran.
The man engaged in a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor explained, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the man had conducted this practice with the children "over an extended period", and minors had previously become sick the next day.
She explained Ruben had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
The prosecutor added: "In the summer" his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They decided to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC stated items including lubricant, ointment and syringes were found, and his stepson contacted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She said the man went on to engage in the "candy game" with six children that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, had stated that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The legal representative explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson contacted the authorities once more.
She explained Ruben then conducted the "sweet game" in a space of five children.
