Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the initial candidates in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday following the team's 10-match winless start to the top-flight campaign.

And both candidates - each of whom have previous associations to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would create a possible obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

However the former Luton manager - who made more than 100 of games for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a strong candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves board as they begin the search of appointing a fresh manager.

O'Neil is additionally emerging as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a surprising choice given he was released by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United player is out of work meaning Wolves would not need to pay any compensation.
